About us

 

Chestnut Community Church is a conservative, Bible believing congregation established in 2006. We believe that the Bible is the Holy Inspired, Inerrant, Living Word of God given to mankind to reveal God's plan of salvation through His Son - Jesus Christ. We gather weekly to worship and to grow deeper in our love and walk with Him. Our History
 

Chestnut Community Church was born out of a Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church in McKinney, in 2005.

Many folks expressed a desire for something that was not as formal as the “Big Church”. The Chestnut Chapel, in the historic district of McKinney, was leased and Rickey Hargrave became its pastor. Twelve people came that first day February 5, 2006.

In September 2022, Pastor Rickey, retired. He is now devoting his full attention as Director of Chaplains, at the expanding Texoma Medical Center, Denison, TX.

 

Johnnie R. Jones, a minister and member of our church, took over the ministries at our church in September until the church could decide its next step. On December 18, 2022, Pastor Johnnie was called as our pastor. He is an expository preacher and knows the heart of our people and the direction by which we desire to grow further in God's ministry.
